Cellular Capability

Covert uses the latest LTE technology to improve transmission speed and spare battery life. You can send both texts and emails via the Covert Wireless mobile app or the web-portal. It uses the AT&T network to send high-quality photos or 5s videos. It is pretty easy to set up. All you need to do is to download the mobile app and choose a data plan that will fit best to your needs.

You can get real-time wind and weather information or remotely take a photo by using the Covert Wireless web portal, via the Covert mobile app and the AT&T cellular network

Image & Video Quality

Covert Scouting CameraCovert cellular trail camera captures photos of 12MP resolution. It is more than enough for crystal clear photos of wildlife or trespassers. In addition to crisp pictures, it can record 1080P HD videos with sound. Its 58° field of view completes this cellular camera’s compatibility and takes to a higher level. This image and video quality, as well as its wide focus of view, make Covert Scouting Camera great for all hunting, wildlife research, scouting and security purposes.

Detection Circuit & Trigger Speed

Covert Scouting Camera features 60 no-glow LEDs with 100ft of flash range. This range is pretty impressive when compared to other models available on the market. The passive infrared motion sensor will trigger nighttime images of good quality. Plus, the invisible flash which is extremely quiet at the same time, will not spook animals. Covert has a trigger speed of 0.7s. It is also pretty good but not as impressive as the flash range.

Operational Modes

Covert Cameras are motion and heat-activated by default. However, you can use the time-lapse mode to get the camera time-lapse triggered. This game camera has a 1-10 shot burst mode to capture in-action images. On the other hand, the time-lapse mode is for observing longer periods of time.

On your still images you can display time, date, temperature or a moon phase stamp. If you do not want this information on your images, you can take them out from the settings menu.

Design & Accessories

Covert Scouting Camera has a compact design with 6in x 4.75in x 3.5in dimensions. It can easily be installed on a tree trunk or a post. You can change camera settings or view photos and videos in the field thanks to Covert’s 2″ color viewer. Its menu is quite simple and easy to use.

Battery

Covert Scouting camera is powered by 12 AA batteries and its battery life is not bad at all. However, it is very relative depending on your picture and video resolution settings and how frequently you send photos to yourself. Furthermore, colder temperatures shorten battery life. On the positive side, the camera is compatible with solar panels and you can use a solar panel to power your camera and never run out of energy.

Storage Options & Warranty

Covert Scouting Camera is compatible with up to 32GB SD cards. You can limit the number of photos or videos sent per day. Moreover, you can favorite photos or videos so that they do not get deleted or written over when the card is full.

This cellular game camera by Covert is covered by a two-year limited warranty from the day of purchase. However, remember that you need to do online warranty registration for your warranty to be valid.

Cons

On may find the setup of the camera a bit tricky. People have complained that especially the information on the website is not enough for a smooth start. Also, some people have complained about the inadequacy of the customer support.

Although Covert Scouting Camera is rather on the expensive side, its high quality and functionality make up for its price. While most cellular trail cameras do not have a screen, Covert’s screen in color enables you to view what you have recorded right in the field.
